STEPS
- Early recognition of emergency e.g., ACS & activation of EMS (early access)
- Early recognition & Activation of the Emergency response system
- Recognize early warning signs e.g., chest pains, resp arrest
- Early (bystander) CPR
- Most effective when it starts immediately after the victim collapses
- Has a significant positive effect on survival.
- Early defibrillation within 3-5 min of collapse
- The link that most likely will improve survival rates for victims of VF SCA
- Availability of AEDs
- Early advanced care
Advanced care providers bring equipment to; –
- Support breathing
- Establish IV access
- Administer drugs
- Stabilizes the victim for transport
- Post resuscitation care
- Care in the ICU
- Further management and stabilization of patient is done
